Avezzano. From 30 June to 6 July the FIR Camp 2024 for male and female athletes born in the years 2009/2010, the only event organized on the national territory.
35 athletes from all over Italy will be present and it will be structured in such a way as to offer them a new opportunity to integrate the value experience already lived with their clubs. The young athletes will experience the values of rugby by developing, together with the FIR Camp Team, human and rugby skills.
They will be followed by a Team FIR Camp made up of technicians, physical trainers and team managers from the federal structure, who will lead the athletes through a training experience made up of training sessions, excursions, meetings and activities in new contexts and unusual methods, in in complete safety and with the aim of developing fundamental skills both in the game of rugby and in everyday life.
“That FIR has chosen our city as the venue for Camp 2024 makes us happy and proud – explains the president of Isweb Avezzano Rugby, Alessandro Seritti – is a fair recognition of the work carried out in recent years. We will make the ‘Angelo Trombetta’ sports facility available for training sessions which will take place on the natural grass pitch and on the new synthetic grass pitch. As management we supported the federation managers in organizing this week which, in addition to the sporting aspect, will allow the kids to get to know our territory with trekking excursions on Monte Salviano and in the archaeological area of Alba Fucens. They will also spend a few hours in the Elettroludica electronic entertainment museum. I thank the Hotel Olimpia and the Marina Rosati transport company for actively contributing to the planning and implementation of this initiative, and Giampiero Contestabile, owner of the Evolution Fitness gym, who will host the young athletes in his facility for physical activity sessions. Special thanks go to the Regional Councilor for Sport Mario Quaglieri for having contributed to creating this important partnership with the FIR, whose positive effects on the territory will not be long in coming”.
Also Pierluigi Di Stefano, Councilor for Sport at the Municipality of Avezzano, does not hide his enthusiasm for the initiative which will place the city and the “A.Trombetta” stadium under the light of the national spotlight. In renewing his compliments to the club for the virtuous path that has brought the team to the A1 series, close to the Olympus of Italian rugby, he declares: “this campus, which testifies to the solidity of the Isweb Avezzano Rugby project and the importance of The facility in Via dei Gladioli represents an important training model with which to compare and grow in parallel with other Italian realities. It will contribute to fueling the passion around the world of oval ball in the Marsica and in the province of L’Aquila, keeping in mind the aim of training those new talents who will one day wear the blue shirt, as we all hope. At the same time I would like to congratulate the yellow and black club once again for the intense and fruitful work it is carrying out with the youth sectors from which valid prospects emerge every year. It’s the right path, I’m sure that many satisfactions will continue to come.”
“I know the reality of Avezzano well and I knew that we could organize everything down to the smallest detail thanks to dialogue and collaboration with a well-structured club like the Giallonera. From the first moment there was excellent communication and this allowed for a rapid and profitable organization from every point of view”, he states Francesco Urbani, FIR responsible for grassroots rugby. “As FIR we are satisfied, President Seritti has worked hard organizing everything and also making a private gym available to us which, for a week, will allow us to do specific and meticulous work with the kids”. Urbani concludes, “one of our objectives is to involve the clubs and their technical structures. Antonio Pelino, a boy and coach who is part of the technical staff of Isweb Avezzano Rugby, will collaborate with us to lend a hand and support the Camp. For him it can also be a training path for the future, which I hope will happen.”
