Paris 2024: Women’s Volleyball, Italy Opens with Dominican Republic

ROME, JUN 26 – The Fivb has made official the calendar of the women’s Olympic tournament (28 July – 11 August 2024), which will see Julio Velasco’s Italian team engaged in Pool C. Danesi and her teammates will make their debut in the South Paris Arena 1 on Sunday 28 July facing the Dominican Republic (9am), then on Thursday 1st August it will be the turn of the Netherlands (5pm) and finally in the last match of the group the champions of the VNL 2024 will face Turkey on Sunday 4th August (9am). The new formula for the Paris 2024 volleyball tournaments involves dividing the twelve participants into three pools. At the end of the group stage, the top two from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals, plus the two best third-placed teams. The quarter-final pairings will be established on the basis of a general ranking drawn up among the 8 qualified teams. The four winning teams will advance to the semi-finals. The final for the bronze medal will be played on Saturday 10 August at 5.15pm, while the one for the gold is scheduled for the final day of the Olympics: Sunday 11 August at 1pm. The Italian team’s calendar (Pool C): – 28 July: Italy -Dominican Republic (9 am); – 1 August: Italy-Holland (5pm); – 4 August: Italy-Türkiye (9 am).
