(Saverio Albanese for iVolleymagazine.it) Asya Zingoni is a new player for GesanCom Marsala Volley for the 2024–2025 competitive season. The powerhouse, from San Miniato in Pisa, 180 cm tall, turned 25 on 27 March, coming off a positive season with Capo D’Orso Palau (Serie B1, Group A), finishing close to the Play Off area with fifth final place with 46 points (16 wins and 8 defeats), four less than the third step of the podium occupied by Fo.Co.L. Legnano is ready to live her sixth experience in the third national category of pink volleyball.

Asya can boast to her credit both two promotions from Serie B1 to Serie A2 with the Tenaglia Altino Volley (2020–2021) and Narconon Volley Melendugno (2022–2023) jerseys, and a season in the second national category with the Abruzzo team of Altino, where he collected “27 appearance tokens”, 80 sets played, 89 points scored (average of 3.29 per game), with his “best score” of nine points achieved on 27 March 2022 in the victorious home match of the second first leg of the Play Out against Club Italia (3-1 final) and subsequently equaled on Sunday 17 April on the first day of the Play Out return to Modica, lost in the fifth and decisive set (15-13 final tiebreak).
Originally from San Miniato (Pisa), like the powerful spiker Silvia Lotti, the city of the prized truffle (an adjective that also fits well for her actions in the offensive phase), she grew up volleyball in her hometown team, from youth teams until reaching Serie B2 (2013–2014). This “training” of life allowed her to face the adventure of Jesolo in the best possible way, a team from the Venetian seaside resort, playing for a three-year period both in the under 18 than with the first team in Serie B2.
The call of Tuscany returned exponentially with the move to Blu Volley Quarrata, where he played two consecutive championships in Group C of Serie B1, 2018–2019 and 2019–2020 competitive season (tournament suspended on 23 February 2020 following of the spread of the Covid–19 pandemic). He moved to Abruzzo for two years, with Tenaglia Altino Volley, achieving a historic promotion to A2 at the first attempt and the bitter relegation to B1 at the following one, and then winning his second promotion to A2 in Salento with Melendugno. He finally moved to Sardinia last season to play another Serie B1 tournament with Capo D’Orso Palau.

“When I received the call from GesanCom Marsala Volley, I accepted with great enthusiasm – were Asya Zingoni’s first words –. I am thrilled to be part of this team led by Coach Luca D’Amico with whom I have already had the pleasure of working and winning a B1 Championship in Altino. The team that is taking shape is an absolutely competitive roster – continues the former Altino and Melendugno player – which can certainly achieve the objective of returning to Serie A2. I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and meet up with some of them I’ve already had the pleasure of playing with in previous years. I feel it is a duty to greet our fans who I hope to get to know very soon, to whom I hope to be able to give, together with our team – the final gloss of the Pisan power station native to San Miniato – a season full of many great satisfactions”.
