Novak Djokovic, no doubles at the 2024 Paris Olympics

There will be no doubles with Novak Djokovic at the 2024 Paris Olympics, unlike the previous occasions in which the Serbian presented himself at the five-ring event. The independent Serbian newspaper Danas reported it on its website.

There are only two Serbs who, in singles, will go to play at Roland Garros again. One is Djokovic, the other is Dusan Lajovic: they called themselves out both Laslo Djere (and it’s a bit peculiar, given the pitfalls it creates on red) that Miomir Kecmanovic. Added to this is the fact that Nikola Cacicnormally used in the Davis Cup, is over the hundredth position in the specialty ranking.

In practice, as Danas reports, there is no possibility of having a competitive double for the medals. And, at that point, in addition to paying attention to his physical situation, Djokovic can only concentrate his priorities on the singles, where at most he achieved the bronze medal in 2008.

Djokovic, in doubles, has never had particular luck on previous occasions (and, in general, he has never had the qualities of Federer and Nadal in the specialty). In 2008, with Nenad Zimonjic, he went out in the first round with the Czechs Martin Damm and Pavel Viznerwhile in 2012, together with his friend Viktor Troickilost by the Swedes Johan Brunstrom and Robert Lindstedt (one with 23 titles plus the 2014 Australian Open on the board). Again with Zimonjic, however, in Rio 2016 there was a stoppage in the second round against the excellent Brazilian pair formed by Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares (5 Slams in total, but separately). In Tokyo, in 2021, there was instead a mixed attempt with Nina Stojanovic. After the defeat in the semi-final and, even more so, the knockout in the 3rd-4th place singles final against the Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta, Djokovic withdrew from the final for the bronze in which he would have been next to Stojanovic, leaving the bronze directly to Ashleigh Barty and John Peers at altitude Australia.
