Matteo Berrettini didn’t win in Stuttgart and had to give up a prize made for him, it was impossible to hide the embarrassment.
The difficult period for Matteo Berrettini, characterized by many ups and downs in terms of results and injuries that prevented him from playing continuously, finally seems to be behind him. Certainly now the tennis player is dealing with an opponent who will not be easy to beat, namely Jannik Sinner, who recently became number one in the world, but he intends to demonstrate to everyone that he has not lost the luster of his best times.
The desire for revenge is certainly not lacking Matteo Berrettini, intent on putting the bitterness of the past behind him, including criticisms, some of them decidedly harsh. In fact, we have often come to question his professionalism just because injuries continued to torment him.
An unexpected event that Matteo Berrettini didn’t need
Little by little the results are arriving, even if losing in the final, as happened to the Italian in Stuttgart, always leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. In his case, however, the award ceremony was characterized by a small moment of embarrassment, which was not hidden by the organizers. In fact, a Novus was planned for the winner, a hybrid between an electric motorbike and an e-bike that Hugo Boss, sponsor of the event, had created.
However, when the two-wheeler arrived on the field, many noticed a small detail that caused quite a bit of embarrassment. The vehicle, in fact, featured colors that had been made specifically for Berrettini by the brand, who is also his sponsor, a clear sign of how he was there the belief that he would be the one to triumph. Unfortunately, however, this did not happen.
“This bike is for the winner. I covered it with the wrong colors, Matteo. It was actually for you! So, we need to make a second bike in Jack’s colors. You will both receive a bike with your colors” – were the words of Daniel Grieder, CEO of the fashion house. Jack Draper, who won the tournament, however tried to take the situation with irony, without getting too offended: “They have faith in their player, you know? He’s an incredible tennis player, so good on grass, a Wimbledon final, two-time winner at Queen’s, two-time winner here, it was probably inevitable that he would win… My e-bike? I’ll order it completely black, like Batman!“.
The Briton also evidently wants to try it, and it couldn’t be otherwise given the features it is equipped with. In addition to theautonomy of approximately 100 kilometres, in fact, this e-bike features a frame, swingarm, fork and rims (18″) entirely in carbon and an 18 kW electric motor housed in the direct transmission rear hub. The battery is 4.3 kWh, therefore nothing to envy of the best in the category.
