Alcaraz was taken aback: he had to confirm everything

Alcaraz, embarrassment in the press room: the champion was put with his back to the wall and could do nothing but confess.

They could have asked him anything. How he felt about the grass season, for example, or whether he thought he had a good chance of winning Wimbledon again. But no. In the press conference they talked more about other things than tennis, proving that his agent was probably right. Because Albert Molina already knew, in his heart, that that clip would backfire on his golden egg tennis player.

And so, indeed, it was. In recent days you will probably have come across the video of Carlos Alcaraz partying in Ibiza in the company of his friends. He was evidently revved up, dancing and having fun, which is sacrosanct for a champion who, even before being a formidable athlete, is above all a very young boy. This was enough, however, for his private life to catalyze the attention of the public and, apparently, also of the press.

In fact, a reporter did not hesitate to ask him a very uncomfortable question, to tease him about those images which, like it or not, made the rounds on social media and the web in the days immediately following the Parisian triumph. “Carlos, nice to see you again, can you tell us if you went to a nightclub during your holiday?“. This was the journalist’s question, perhaps not entirely unexpected, during the press conference at Queen’s. He got straight to the point and practically put the Iberian with his back to the wall.

Alcaraz, how embarrassing: he did it in front of everyone

The new king of Roland Garros was visibly embarrassed, but he had no escape. At first he let out a laugh, then took courage and candidly replied “Yes”. He never said anything more, rightly, about it. He ended the discussion and moved on, perhaps also annoyed by the intrusiveness of that unorthodox question.

And above all little relevant to the context of Queen’s, the British tournament played on grass and in which he will be called upon to defend the title he won last year. Later, however, directly from London, he decided to clarify once and for all how things really went during his well-deserved holidays, without any reference, obviously, to the nightclub issue.

“I had a few days off and went to Ibiza with a group of friends. I went to clubs and also sang karaoke. I had fun, I appreciated my days off, it was a great time to celebrate Roland Garros and I just had fun. As a player I need this kind of thing“. The case is therefore closed. At least we hope…
