A path to disc golf nestled between lavender and olive trees it will be inaugurated in Olivetta San Michele The June 23rd at 12.

It will be the first in Liguria. “We will have a path of disc golf” – the mayor says Adriano Biancheri – “It is a discipline that is very popular in northern Europe. It will, therefore, be one thing innovative for our area”.

Disc golf it’s a Frisbee discipline in which players throw a disc into a target, which is usually a basket, is practiced outside and is enjoyed by people of all ages. “Disc golf was born in the United States, where there are three thousand paths, and it is very well known in all northern European countries where it is already a national sport. On the Internet, by chance, I discovered this sport, I read up, I understood how it worked and I thought it could be done on my land” – says the owner Remo Mason, owner of the farmhouse ‘La casa di Remo’ – “I contacted a company of disc golf organizers, who came to see the place and seeing that it was going well, I decided to open a course here, near my farmhouse and my little shop where I sell local products. make this sport known, which is fun and makes no noise, in our areas. Everyone is enthusiastic about it, first of all the mayor who was enthusiastic, supported me in this new adventure and wanted me to organize an official inauguration”.

Disc golf it’s a version of the more classic game of golf, thoughinstead of bats and balls, yes using disks, who, instead of entering the holes, must enter baskets equipped with chains that serve to “capture” the disc. “From a starting position, tee or launch pad, a frisbee is thrown which will be launched again from where it landed until it reaches the target. After completing a hole, the player proceeds to the Tee of the next hole, until all holes are played. Players must try to complete the course in the fewest total shots. If it has a minimum to be a world approved player it takes at least nine holes. In fact, it is usually played on a 9 or 18 hole course.” – says the owner – “Our course is nine holes and is approved to get back into the world rankings. In Italy it is the third approved route and is the first in Liguria”.

Some private lands cultivated with lavender and olive trees have thus been transformed into a game path. “Our path, which I created in some of my lands, is particular because it is nestled between lavender and olive trees. Five holes they are found in lands cultivated with lavender, which is now in flower, and four holes among the olive trees” – says Muratore – “The obstacles, such as branches or trees, are well appreciated by players because they are difficulties that must be avoided. There are flat paths but also some difficulties which make the game more exciting. We also have a stream which passes in the middle and, therefore, you must try not to drop the Frisbee into the water. As with golf there are different clubs for different shots, the same goes for disc golf There are a range of different discs based on needs and situations. Whoever has them will be able to take them but anyway we rent them. We have a number of backpacks with all kinds of records.”

Next Sunday, on the occasion of the inauguration, a competition will also be organized. “After the inauguration there will be the first match with players” – reveal Oar – “We will be open all year and we will host official competitions with both Italian and foreign players, but also those who want to try this discipline for fun or as a pastime. You will pay an entrance fee and then you can play and stay all day.”
