Reading time: 4 minutes

Tadej Pogacar has no intention of stopping and, after winning the Tour of Italyhe only has in mind the Tour de France. His assault on the yellow jersey will take place with the saddle at his side Prologue Nago R4the fourth evolution of a product that has crossed the history of cycling, drawing some of its most beautiful pages.

Let’s think for example of the Tour, the Giro, the World Championships, the Monumento classics, marked by riders of the caliber of Bradley Wiggins, Alberto Contador, Peter Sagan, the brothers Andy and Frank Schleck, Fabian Cancellara, Sonny Colbrelli and many others, up to to get to the Slovenian champion.

Even at the Tour de France which is about to start Florence, Prologo will not fail to support some of the best teams at the start. I am eight teams who will use the Nago R4: Ineos-Grenadiers, Bahrain-Victorious, UAE Team Emirates, Intermarché-Wanty, Astana-Qazaqstan, Groupama-FDJ, EF Education-EasyPost, Uno-X Mobility.

From that cutting-edge model launched in 2007passing through evolutions Nago Evo from 2014 And Nago C3 from 2016we have reached the fourth generation of a saddle that once again improves its characteristics, raising the bar and imposing a new level of quality standard.

ProloguePrologue

Prologue Nago R4: how it’s made

The Prologo Nago R4 was born from feedback and from collaboration in close contact with i professional teams of the World Tour through months of research and development with the aim of satisfying the most demanding cyclists looking for maximum performance and unparalleled comfort. In the design, a key role was played by tests “Pressure Map MyOwn“, the proprietary system that analyzes the pressures exerted on the saddle during pedaling. The results, in fact, allowed Prologo engineers to perfect the saddle.

Let’s go on design. Let’s find some extremely aerodynamic shapes and innovative, which reduce the use of material to a minimum so as to further reduce the overall weight. The dimensions of 245x137mm they make the saddle extremely compact and join the traditional T-Shape which offers good freedom of movement.

Also very interestingslight advancement of the anatomical center so as to have a more aggressive and faster riding position. There ergonomic semi-round shapeon the other hand, allows you to reach the handlebars without particular efforts, facilitating the forward rotation of the pelvis.

We find two versions of the Nago R4, one open it’s a closed. The first features a cover with two independent separate side sections, which are made with latest generation foams variable density. It is a solution that offers a perfect balance between support and comfort during any phase of pedaling. In the center, however, there is the PAS systemi.e. a large central channel with perforated base that eliminates the major pressure points in the push phase (138 or 145 grams).

There closed version, on the contrary, has three independent sections that cover the entire surface of the saddle. In this case the system is present at the center Active Base with a perforated base that combines the benefits of a closed saddle with a greater support surface, with the advantages of a saddle with an open base (145 or 209 grams). A gem? The model specifications and geographical coordinates are shown on the back right of the cover 45°37′N 9°28′Erelating to the headquarters of Prologue a Busnagonear Milan.

A little data

The two versions of the saddle (Nago R4 and Nago R4 PAS) are the narrowest ergonomic saddles of the entire collection having a width of “only” 137 millimeters. This is why it is a model designed mainly for cyclists with not excessively wide ischial bones.

To satisfy everyone, however, the Lombard company has also thought of two models 147 mm that offer aincreased padding 10 millimeters at the sides and 3 millimeters at the top. We are therefore talking about cyclists with a greater distance between the ischial bones who need greater support on the saddle, but also about cyclists with a higher body mass index (BMI) to better distribute the weight.

Two rails are proposed: the Rail Nack (Nano Carbon Fiber) with carbon fiber, Kevlar and aluminum filaments, higher performance, rigid and lightweight. AND Rail TiroX in light alloy steel that offers the right balance between weight and resistance, designed for those looking for greater comfort.

The list price is 229 euros in the case of the rail Nack and 139 euros for versions with TiroX rail on the site www.prologo.it and at i best retailers.
