After 11 championships played in the top series, the conquest of two Italian Cups and several unforgettable championship finals, Virtus Eirene informs its fans, the city and the institutions that it has officially renounced playing in the A1 women’s basketball series and asked repositioning in Serie A2. The decision was made after a careful analysis of the economic-financial situation, also and above all in light of the new sport reform last year. The commitment of the Passalacqua family, both from a first team perspective and in the youth sector, in any case, does not stop. In this sense, the plans for the future will be illustrated to the city once there is certainty of the championship that the green and white club will play, no later than the first half of July. The club, in the person of the president Davide Passalacqua, thanks the entire team of last season, as well as naturally the coach Lino Lardo and the assistant coach Massimo Romano, for the commitment made during the last sporting season which with the qualification for the Final Four of Italian Cup and with the conquest of the Scudetto semi-finals, it was fully in line with expectations.
