The Eccellenze Italiane numismatic series warms up the engines – it should be said – in view of June 20th, the official issue date of the long-awaited Ducati coins, a tribute to one of the most famous and successful Italian two-wheel brands in the world.
Minted in silver, nominal value of 5 euros, the 2024 Ducati coins form an authentic “winning team”: MEF and Poligrafico Zecca, in fact, decided to create a total of six, of which three individually packaged and the remaining in triptych.

What are the differences between Ducati coins? Those sold individually (5000 pieces of each available) have an uncirculated finish and color applications on the obverse, where the company logo and a view of the Borgo Panigale factories, in the Bologna hinterland, stand out. The logo and a thin curve with the colors of the Italian flag are printed in colour.
Ducati coins in triptychhowever, they are available in 3000 complete uncirculated sets and the coloring is applied on the three historic motorcycle models of the Italian company modeled by the artist Antonio Vecchio on the three respective reverses: it is the Cubof the famous Ducati 916 and technology Panigale.

Made with 18 grams of 925 thousandths silver each32 mm diameter and discontinuous thick knurling cut, the 5 euro Ducati coins cost 80 euros each if purchased individually, while the triptych with color reverses is offered at the issue price of 250 euros.
At the time of writing this article, in the IPZS e-shop the triptych is not available, while the 5 euro Ducati coins with color applications on the obverse can be booked one by one: as the Poligrafico Zecca website specifieshowever, “If a coin runs out during the pre-sale, you will still be able to purchase it on the day of official issue, indicated on the description page as Availability Date.

It is clear that the Ducati coins are intercepting, as well as that for Vasco Rossi or for Pietro Mennea, a transversal audience, not just historical collectors. After all, the great champion Loris Capirossi, who has had a long and fruitful professional relationship with the Borgo Panigale company, once said that Ducati “is the motorcycle that has remained in my heart the most. If you are Italian, racing and winning with the Ducati is the best. It’s not just a motorbike, it’s a story.”
