Pierer Mobility explains the exit of the GasGas brand from MotoGP: ‘We have agreed to put the KTM brand first’

In the past week, KTM not only announced the Tech3 team riders in MotoGP in 2025, but also the return of Hervé Poncharal’s team under the Red Bull KTM Tech3 name which it used until 2022 – switching to GasGas in 2023.

Deputy group executive Pierer Mobility, which owns both brands, explained to SPEEDWEEK.com that it is a reflection of the desired strategy for the KTM identity:

Firstly, the decision to restart the Tech3 team under the KTM name starting from 2025 expresses a brand offensive. We agreed that at this time and with the possibilities we have available, we will put the KTM brand first. We want to strengthen our “Ready to Race” philosophy in every aspect, not only in competition, but also in product development. It’s about emphasizing our core values more strongly. That’s why we’re all orange in MotoGP.

This does not mean that the GasGas brand loses relevance in the group’s plans, as Trunkenpolz clarified: ‘It is important to understand that we are in no way undermining the importance of GasGas. On the contrary, we want to create greater clarity in positioning them in greater differentiation. The realignment now aims to create even more loyalty to the products, which are particularly aimed at younger customers‘.

In this sense, GasGas will continue to be present in the promotion categories, and in particular in Moto3, after having been particularly promoted in MotoGP this year thanks to the talent of Pedro Acosta.
