In the last few hours some statements have put fans on alert. The presence of the Italian number one is no longer so certain.
The grass season is finally starting for the big names too and in the next few hours Jannik Sinner will also make his debut, engaged as the number one seed in the ATP 500 tournament in Halle. The blue tennis player is immediately called upon to make a complicated debut, playing against a very skilled tennis player on grass like Tallon Griekspoor.
For Sinner, after the semi-final at Roland Garros, there is a very busy calendar of commitments, tournaments to defend points and commitments with the Italian national team between the Paris Olympics and the Davis Cup where – among other things – Filippo Volandri’s Italy will defend the title. In short, a very busy calendar of commitments and in almost every tournament the South Tyrolean tennis player is always the most awaited man, or almost.
Former tennis player Luca Bottazzi spoke to Mowmag and made sensational statements about Sinner and his possible participation in the Olympics. The Italian talent might not even participate, Bottazzi himself explains the reasons. Here are his words:
“The Olympic tournament is very complicated to predict, it is played on clay in the middle of the calendar and we see it once every four years. For Sinner the goal is to remain number one, so I’m almost sure he won’t go to the Paris Olympics.”
From the Olympics to Wimbledon, Bottazzi’s opinion is clear
After the Olympics there will immediately be several hard court tournaments and Sinner will have to defend many points. For this reason Bottazzi thinks that his participation in the Olympics is in strong doubt and continues: “If he wants to be number one on grass, going to the Olympics could ruin his season. We are talking about tennis players like Formula Ones pushed to the limit and therefore having one more match than expected is inadvisable.”
Naturally, Bottazzi’s thoughts so far do not come to terms with reality given that Jannik has repeatedly specified that he will be at the Olympics and that he wants to be among the absolute protagonists of the event. We are now in the middle of the season, the South Tyrolean wants to defend the lead at Wimbledon and perhaps gain points on Alcaraz, only in this way can he truly maintain the lead until the end of the season.
Then the Olympics and several other tournaments with the hard court season which sees the Italian tennis player favored to win and convince. The fans are waiting and can’t wait to see the blue again on the pitch, it promises to be a season full of emotions and Sinner could give him a medal at the Olympics.
