Negative period to cancel
In the first nine GPs of 2024 the Sauber – future official Audi team from 2026 – failed to collect a single world championship point. The Hinwil team made the most headlines market perspective – with the hiring of Nico Hulkenberg and the close courtship of Carlos Sainz in view of next season – which not for the results on the track, rather disappointing. The hope of the Swiss team is to reverse the trend starting from this weekend in Spain.
The words of Bottas and Zhou
“It’s nice to return to Barcelona, a place we know inside out. It’s a place I’ve always liked and I feel like I can give my best here – commented Valtteri Bottas – it is a circuit that has no secrets for the teams: we have a lot of data, in every condition and with every variable taken into consideration, so, once again, the smallest details will make the difference, especially on Saturday. Even though we haven’t been as strong as we should have been in the last few races, we are confident in our abilities. The team worked hard to understand our problems and improve our performance. The group is very close, but by improving in qualifying we know we can return to fighting for points“.
“I am determined to get back into the fight for points – the team’s second driver echoed the Finn, Zhou Guanyu – unfortunately the last few races didn’t go well for me and the team, but we are determined to recover. We used this short break wisely to identify the problems and work hard to be competitive again. I have good memories of Barcelona: last year’s race was a lot of fun and I even brought home some points. It’s a track we know well and that should mean there will be no surprises: it will all be about the final performance. It will be essential for us to start strong: we will need to get the set-up right from the first free practice sessions to put ourselves in a good position for qualifying and the race“.
