A setter branded Imoco Conegliano arrives to complete the Bergamo control room: she is Roberta Carraro, from Veneto, born in 1998.

She introduces herself and talks about the path that brought her to the rossoblù: “I am very competitive and I like to challenge myself, which is why I am happy to take a further step forward and test myself in A1. I am feisty and determined about what I set myself. In short, to summarize everything in one word, ambitious.”

“I started in my house – continues – in the youth teams of Imoco, in San Donà, up to under 18, then I had my first experience in A2 in Mondovì, two years in Trento, three in Udine where I started playing with more continuity, a year in Conegliano and finally last season in Montecchio”.

The brand of a winning team is a guarantee: “Thanks to Conegliano I learned the culture of work and the mentality to be able to project myself into Serie A. It’s a tough path that starts already in the youth team, but it allows you to exploit this way of being in everyday life, not only on the pitch, for managing anxiety, studying and time. It’s a great gym that makes your life easier.”

What does Bergamo represent at this point in your career? “It allows me to try the A1 again, to interact with more mature people in a high-level context. I’ll be ready to bring my determination to the field and to call the group a “dick”.

Not just volleyball, however, during the months that separate her from her arrival in Bergamo: “I will spend the summer waiting in the gym and studying (I am attending the faculty of archaeology), but there will be some relaxation to try different sports that I can’t practice during the winter”.
