Waiting for players for Roma, a new club for Friedkin

We were no longer used to such a quiet month of June. After years in which news has been chasing each other in recent weeks about sales necessary to reach a certain threshold by the infamous 30 day, this time you are sailing on a calm flat: the cuts made in recent months both in the sports sector and in others have improved the accounts significantly or at least sufficiently so as not to worry too much. It is not clear whether there is nothing that needs to be done to present an acceptable balance sheet to UEFA (the settlement agreement is still there, despite the fact that the transfer balance hurdle, the one that is most interesting, has been overcome), but if anything ever has to be done it will be very smallalmost negligible until those operations are completed.

And so we can already concentrate on the arrivals, but from this point of view Rome is equally firm: brought home the ransom of Angelino within the established deadlines, for now it is just the usual list of roles to be filled and the usual swirl of names with little concreteness around them. A concreteness that is instead being seen on another business level, that one corporate: the Friedkins are very close to acquiring the majority shares ofEvertonwhich would therefore become the third club to gravitate into their orbit, after the Rome and the Cannes. The French company plays in National 2, the fourth level of transalpine football, and therefore that acquisition did not cause any worries; that of Everton, which sails in the lower-middle part of the table, but in the Premier Leaguethe most competitive, important and above all rich championship in the world, has instead made us ask some fair questions, why maintaining two clubs of this level does not seem easy and because, from a certain point of view, preferring the English one might not be illogical, given the revenues it can access and the new stadium that will soon be a realityunlike Roma’s project which in recent days has been bogged down for the umpteenth time.

Premises that, objectively, they may not lead to optimism, but how many times, precisely in the transfer market, have these premises been denied by this club with facts? How many times have seemingly illogical things then become reality? For what communication is – Nothingwhether you find it reasonable or unreasonable – of the property, from the outside you can only make associations of ideas and build cause-consequence relationships on the basis of minimal assumptionsbut it is still worth considering the fact that those who want to aspire to have even three clubs in European football may have plans whose complexity goes even beyond the apparent understanding of those looking from the outside. And who, watching, cannot decide anything: he can only wait, how do you expect the next right back or the next centre-forward. Which will come, just as the end of this corporate affair will come, after which everything will be clearer.
