Italian ultras in Germany, the 67 arrested in Dortmund released

The 67 Italian fans who had been stopped in Dortmund in the afternoon before the match against Albania in possession of balaclavas, knives, screwdrivers and paper bombs were all released last night. According to the investigators, their intent was clear: they intended to clash with the Eagles’ supporters. From today the ultras are at large again, although the positions of some are being examined by the German authorities for possible complaints or administrative measures such as the Daspo, or prohibition on entry into stadiums.

STATE POLICE

The prevention work of the State Police was decisive. Our police, in fact, sent 20 men to Germany to collaborate with the German Federal Police for general prevention, i.e. control of the railways, the road network and mobility in general; another 10 men collaborate with the German police forces: 2 are at the International Cooperation Center in Neuss, where they work in synergy, 24 hours a day, exchanging information with police forces from all over Europe; the other 8 are fan experts from the Digos of various police stations, officials accustomed to “working” with the ultras from all over Italy.

extreme right

And precisely the knowledge of the most extreme fringes was fundamental in identifying a group of 67 ultras who were preparing a hostile action against the Albanians, near a restaurant. The men of the State Police immediately requested the help of the German federal police who arrived in force, surrounded the ultras and led them to the offices where they were identified. These are fans belonging to far-right groups of teams from the North-East, Tuscany, Emilia and Rome. The identification work lasted until late at night, then the fans were released and at the moment there are no measures restricting individual freedoms. The positions of some of them remain under scrutiny for possible referral to the judicial authorities, while the possibility of imposing administrative measures such as the Daspo is being studied for the entire group. The ultras arrived from Italy in mini vans and cars. As mentioned, there are no expulsion orders against them, but it is clear that in view of the Azzurri’s next matches the attention will be even greater.
