One of those crackling hamlets, not with large mountains, but which offer a guaranteed spectacle. So it was at Tour of Slovenia where all the big names moved in the last stage, but the triumph in Nove Mesto went to a sparkling Ben Healy. Excellent state of form Giovanni Aleotti who defends himself at his best and wins the general classification.
Breakaway at 15 in the first part of the race with Diego Uriarte (Kern Pharma), Fabien Grellier (TotalEnergies), Szymon Sajnok (Q36.5), Martin Marcellusi (Vf Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè), Vegard Stake Laengen (UAE) on the attack ), Alexander Kristoff (Uno-X), Alexander Hajek (Bora-hansgrohe), Nikias Arndt (Bahrain Victorious), Clément Davy (Groupama-Fdj), Johan Meens (Bingoal WB), Robin Froidevaux (Tudor), Alessandro de Marchi ( Jayco-AlUla), Cameron Wurf (Ineos), Yuhi Todome (Ef Education-EasyPost) and Piotr Pekala (Santic-Wibatech).
50 kilometers from the finish line Healy bursts out: the Irish champion goes on the attack with Jhonatan Narvaez who then fails to keep up with the EF Education – EasyPost athlete, capable of catching up with the breakaways. The men in the ranking move from behind: Paul Double (Polti-Kometa) and Pello Bilbao (Bahrain-Victorious) launch their attack on Aleotti’s Maglia Gialla who, also taking advantage of his Bora-hansgrohe, manages to defend himself as well as possible.
At the end Healy leads everyone and he arrives alone at the finish line, from behind the platoon of the best groups together and it is Kristoff who regulates it in front of Aular. In Italy, sixth place for Edoardo Zambanini (Bahrain – Victorious), seventh for Valerio Conti (Team Corratec – Vini Fantini). Aleotti triumphs in the standings ahead of the aforementioned Bilbao, with a super third Giulio Pellizzari (VF Group – Bardiani CSF – Faizanè), best youngster of the race.
