Kawasaki is preparing everything for the big change: it will be the first time that a mix of this type will take place.
The progress of electrical systems for motorcycles has been slower and more demanding than for cars, also because in terms of performance the impact of batteries can be even more incisive for two-wheelers. The hybrid system represents an intermediate stage which allows the definitive transition to be perfected in the meantime and combines a combustion engine with an electric propulsion system. A common practice for four-wheelers, to the point that it is in Italy that in general in Europe it is one of the best-selling solutions.
In the motorcycle hemisphere, however, the diffusion of the hybrid is still in its infancy. There Kawasaki in some ways it could be the forerunner of a definitive revolution, as it is working on a dual fuel system, which could represent an important step for the entire sector. In fact, car platforms easily combine advanced hybrid such as Full Hybrid oh Plug-in Hybrid with few changes.
The same does not apply to two wheels, due to limited space and the need to balance the weight of the vehicle. Today’s increasingly compact batteries represent the necessary compromise between needs and reality, and we are finally seeing proof of this with the technological advances of Kawasaki.
Powerful and hybrid motorcycle: Kawasaki very close to the revolution
The Japanese company has patented a dual-fuel two-wheeler: combustion engine and electric engine. Based on the reconstructions carried out starting from some files leaked online, the well-known brand is thinking of applying these innovations on two models first of all, namely Versys and Eliminator, placing the battery on the combustion engine and the airbox just behind. At this point the fuel in the case ofEliminator it would end up behind the two tanks external to the frame, thus optimizing space and balancing the weight, distributing it.
The idea seems to be to make a versatile way available to customers, which does not suffer from changes in its approach, but which is in line with the need for zero emissions, particularly within urban centres. Thus the combustion engine would be used exclusively on extra-urban routes, for which higher power is required. The electric motor could, finally, also increase the torque, making thelivelier acceleration both on straight and curved roads. Everything to experience.
