Halle, Sinner on one side, Berrettini on the other: here is the scoreboard

Jannik Sinner starts again from the 500 in Halle. The Italian will make his official debut as world number 1 in the grass tournament in Germany, with a view on Wimbledon: for the South Tyrolean it will be the first appointment on the grass in 2024, after the semi-final reached last year at the Championships with the defeat against Novak Djokovic. Many big protagonists in Halle: in addition to Sinner, the other seeds will be Zverev (2), Medvedev (3), Rublev (4), Hurkacz (5), Tsitsipas (6), Bublik (7) and Auger-Aliassime ( 8). Carlos Alcaraz will instead play in the sister tournament at Queen’s.

THE HALLE SCOREBOARD

The draws for the two tournaments have been drawn: Sinner will start against Tallon Griekspoor, an opponent who is becoming a constant and who Jannik has beaten four times out of four. In the round of 16, possibly one between Marozsan and Safiullin, while in the quarterfinals there could be a challenge against Tsitsipas (or one between Squire, Darderi and Struff). In the semi-final, then, Sinner could find Medvedev or Bublik. On the other side of the scoreboard there will be Berrettini, who will start against a qualified player and then possibly find Rublev or Giron, then Hurkacz, possibly Zverev in the semi-final. The other Italian protagonists (in addition to the aforementioned Darderi, who will start from Struff) are Cobolli (he will challenge Hurkacz) and Sonego, who will face Kecmanovic.

AT QUEEN’S

Arnaldi and Musetti instead opted for Queen’s: Matteo will challenge Ugo Humbert (8) in the first round and is in Dimitrov’s quarter of the draw (3), in Alcaraz’s half (1); Lorenzo is on the other side and will immediately face the number 2 seed, Alex De Minaur: possible fourth against Shelton (6), semi-final with Fritz (4) or Rune (7). While Alcaraz will start from the match against Cerundolo and is in Paul’s quarter of the draw (5). It will therefore be a very rich week: Wimbledon is approaching and the big names are warming up their engines. And King Jannik will wear the crown for the first time.
