Euro 2024: the coach’s outburst
In recent days the Dutch national team has officially announced that Frenkie de Jong will not take part in the European Championships due to the persistence of his physical problem which has kept him in the pits for some time. Terrible news therefore for the Orange, who lose a fundamental cornerstone of the squad. However, after the announcement was made, the coach also Roland Koeman had his say on the midfielder’s absence of Barcelona during a press conference, and the coach’s words were not at all sweet towards the Blaugrana club.
“We decided this afternoon. We have considered that Frenkie de Jong will not be fit for the next three weeks. He’s been carrying this injury to his right ankle for a while now and there’s no point in taking any further risks. His club took risks during the season and now we have to pay the price”. These are Koeman’s statements, which he made it clear that Barça is also to blame for the player’s knockout.
I’m walking uphill for Orange
The Netherlands’ path in the competition is therefore already starting uphill. In addition to the Blaugrana midfielder, in fact, another fundamental element of the midfield also raised the white flag after the recent muscle injury, namely Teun Koopmeiners.
One more problem therefore for Mr. Koeman, who ahead of Sunday afternoon’s debut against Poland must already resolve the first critical issues.
