“Millwall Football Club – we read in the tragic announcement of the English club – is completely shocked to announce that Matija Sarkic has died at the age of 26. Sarkic, the Lions’ number one goalkeeper, has made 33 appearances for the club since joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2023.”. A few days ago, Sarkic took the field with Montenegro for the friendly match against Lukaku’s Belgium.
“Montenegro International, – continues the Millwall statement – Matija has proudly represented his country on numerous occasions. The entire club sends its love and condolences to Matija’s family and friends in this moment of immense sadness. The club will make no further comment at this time and asks that the privacy of Matija’s family be respected.”
