In the World Donor Day, Avis And FemiCz Rovigohosted at socio-health citadel from Ulss 5have launched two videos for the new communication campaign that focuses on “young people and donation”, to cushion the impact of the aging population on blood collection.
The numbers of Avis in Polesine are excellent when compared with the national averages recorded by the Association of Blood Volunteers: calculating the incidence per thousand inhabitants, the Avis statistics in 2023 show 33.78 donations and 21.35 in Italy donors per thousand inhabitants, while in Polesine with 10,290 donors, 14,339 donations and 227,452 inhabitants as of 31 December last, there are 45.24 per thousand inhabitants (over double the national average) and 63.04 donations per thousand inhabitants (more 86.6%). However, we cannot stop here in front of the scenario with the Italian population decreasing to 51 million in 2050 and with the province of Rovigo which has already seen births almost halved, from 1,658 in the first ten months of 2008 to 953 in the same period of 2022.

At yesterday’s meeting in the citadel, together with the provincial president of Avis, Barbara Garbellini, the director of Transfusion Medicine of Ulss 5 Andrea Frigato, the club manager of Rugby Rovigo Andrea Trombini and Marco Samiolo, who took care of filming and editing of the videos “Avis and young donors” and “Avis and sport. Together with the players of Rugby Rovigo Femi Cz”, made together with Lucio Ortali (colourist), Matteo Tosi (voice) and sound engineer Michele Benati. «Our volunteering – President Garbellini recalled – serves a part of the health services: on a daily basis there is synergy between Avis and the health company, and we decided to put together more forces because the network between institutions, bodies and associations of different types, allows you to do more. The message is to become donors and be continuous, because blood can only be donated.”
«The videos made are beautiful, they are not conventional and they are not rhetorical – commented Andrea Frigato – everything that Avis does to bring us donors is a small daily miracle and the challenge for the future, with fewer young people according to the demographic trend, is to guarantee self-sufficiency and match donations with needs, as we have always guaranteed in recent years.”
