Archery, Italy can still hope for an Olympic repechage with the women’s team. All combinations

After seeing the last chance to gain the direct pass disappear today at the World Pre-Olympic, the Italian women’s archery team is now backs against the wall and it will all be played out next week on the occasion of the third seasonal stage of the World Cup, scheduled for Antalya in the same location that is hosting the global five-ring qualifying tournament towards Paris 2024.

10 out of 12 places for the Olympic team event reserved for women have already been occupied (by France, Germany, Mexico, South Korea, the United States, the Netherlands, China, Taipei, Malaysia and Great Britain), while the last two will be assigned through the world ranking on June 24th taking into consideration all the trios currently excluded.

Italy is currently in fourth place in this ranking, with a gap of only 2 points from third place Colombia but above all 29 points from second place Indonesia (first place India is instead 35 points away). To get back on the leading pair, the Italians will be called upon to undertake a great undertaking, furthermore they will not be able to fully master their destiny.

In summary, the Italian team will necessarily have to reach the Final in the World Cup in Antalya and then hope for a favorable combination of results. A possible victory would propel the Italian team to the Olympics, unless the remaining two steps of the podium are occupied (in any order) by India and Indonesia.
