The volleyball group draw for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place shortly before the final phase of the Volleyball Nations League 2024 (VNL), the preliminary round of which will decide the final places.
There will be 12 teams present at the event in the women’s competition and the same number in the men’s competition, but the format will be different from that of Tokyo 2020. The participants will be divided into three groups, each with four participants.
At the France the first slot in group A is guaranteed, for both the men’s and women’s teams. The teams at the top of the world ranking will be in the first tier of group B, while the second ones will be in the 2nd of group C. The world rankings to be used will be those of 17 June for women and 24 June for men.
The other three challengers from each group will then be drawn. The teams from 10th to 12th place will be drawn to occupy the fourth pot of each group. Then, those classified from 7th to 9th place will be drawn into the third bracket. Finally, the qualifiers from 4th to 6th place will be drawn for the second bracket.
A few days after the closing of the rankings, theItaly is in provisional first place, for both men and women, among the national teams that have not yet obtained the quota.
