(ANSA) – ROME, JUNE 13 – Coach Edin Terzic has decided to leave his position as coach of Borussia Dortmund, who he had led until the Champions League final, lost against Real Madrid. In an announcement on their website, the club also published a statement from the resigning coach: “Dear Borussia fans, even though it hurts me immensely, I would like to tell you today that I have decided to leave BVB. It has been a great honor to lead this great club to win the German Cup and recently the Champions League final”, writes Terzic. After an initial period on the Dortmund bench in the second half of the 2020-21 season, crowned by the triumph in the German Cup final against Leipzig, Terzic then took charge of the team in the summer of 2022, finishing the following season in second place but losing the title on goal difference to Bayern Munich with a draw on the final day. In the recently concluded season in the Bundesliga, Dortmund finished fifth, a result redeemed by their path to the Champions League. Terzic explains that “I asked for a meeting with the management immediately after the final against Real Madrid, because I had the feeling that the restart had to take place with a new person on the bench”. According to German media, the likely successor would be his deputy, Nuri Sahin. (HANDLE).
