“You have to go over my dead body.” Di Lorenzo, the case can return: today call from Manna

“To sell it you have to walk over my corpse.” In yesterday’s meeting with Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s agent, Antonio Conte reiterated to Mario Giuffredi a rather clear position on the future of the Napoli captain: he is not moving. The national team defender and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia are the players around whom the new Neapolitan coach wants to build the new team and this is why in recent days an important offer from PSG for the Georgian has been rejected.

Returning to Di Lorenzo, today from Iserlohn he said: “A lot is being written. I spoke with the club at the end of the championship, we spoke to each other. When the time comes to talk about Napoli I will do so, I won’t hold back. Now the most important thing is to stay focused on the European Championship.” The reference is to the face-to-face meeting we had at the end of the championship with Giovanni Manna, the new sporting director of Napoli who on that occasion – following the instructions of the president – had communicated to Di Lorenzo his possible transfer in the face of an offer of 25-30 million EUR.

However, the story took a different turn with the arrival of Antonio Conte and Manna and De Laurentiis adapted. In the aftermath of the confrontation in which Conte also took part, the Napoli manager called Di Lorenzo to announce the company’s new line and apologize for the superficial management he had previously. Translated: Di Lorenzo is no longer for sale.

As Captain of Napoli, Di Lorenzo is now also expecting a call from De Laurentiis, a call that could definitively close the case. Also because Giuntoli has shown great appreciation for his former full-back but at this moment he has not presented an official offer, neither for the price tag nor for the salary.
