Spain is among the first nations to have made official the call-ups for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. There will be 7 tennis players called to defend the colors of their country: Anabel Medina and David Ferrer made the names official to the media taking advantage of an event in Barcelona .
Here are the athletes who will participate in the five-ring competition for the Iberian team:

- Rafael Nadal
- Pablo Carreno Busta
- Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
- Marcel Granollers (doubles)
- Sara Sorribes Tormo
- Cristina Bucsa
In the men’s circuit, the presence of Rafa was confirmed, who together with Carreno Busta exercised the right to benefit from the protected ranking.
This situation inevitably left Pedro Martinez out, effectively excluded due to the imposed limit of only 4 players per nation in the singles draws. Naturally, the doubles remain to be defined, especially Granollers’ partner (top 10 in the specialty).
In all likelihood Alcaraz and Nadal will form another pair to take part in the doubles.
Forfeit by Paula Badosa
Few doubts regarding the women’s event: Sorribes Tormo and Bucsa will be at the starting line of the individual tournament and, together, of the doubles.
Absent was Paula Badosa, who communicated to fans the latest updates regarding the injury: “Due to my current situation, unfortunately I will not be able to go to the Olympic Games, which I was very excited about.
It was a very complicated decision for me, it’s difficult for me to have to give up playing for my country. Due to calendar and surface changes, my back cannot respond to such efforts.
I would like my professional situation to be different, but after this injury I have to approach my career differently and give up things that are very important to me. And I have no choice but to accept it.”
