The saying is fully respected and for the third consecutive year Rugby Experience L’Aquila wins the under 14 Alfarobeach inter-regional youth tournament. The youth event organized by Beach Sport in collaboration with the Abruzzo regional committee of the Italian Rugby Federation took place in the two fields of the Al Faro bathing establishment in Adriatic Dawn. The L’Aquila team beat Pescara Rugby in the very hard-fought final. In third place was the other Rugby Experience team that defeated San Benedetto. Rieti Rugby ranks fifth, followed by Paganica Rugby, Polisportiva Abruzzo and the Umbrian Ternana Rugby.
The evocative setting of the fields of the Al Faro bathing establishment was filled with parents and those curious about the discipline of beach rugby. The day passed under the banner of sportsmanship and fair play which aimed at the enjoyment of the young rugby players. The excellent success of the youth event, 140 participating athletes involving 500 people including companions and family members, was also confirmed by the many families who confirmed their stay for Saturday too, taking advantage of the hotel accommodation in Alba. The Zivelli – Colella (Beach Sport – Fir Abruzzo) couple has hit the target once again.
“I am proud of this event – states the technical director of Fir Abruzzo, Antonio Colella, I saw guys who love rugby and I saw a lot of sportsmanship. Young athletes who have the pleasure of playing. In the two fields I saw a lot of quality and self-sacrifice. It was a beautiful day of sport where we involved many parents. The Rugby Experience boys who won the first edition of the Alba Adriatica youth tournament are vice champions of Italy defeated by Benetton Treviso. I can announce that in the autumn we will get to work with the Beach Sport managers for the 2025 edition where we will extend the youth tournament to two days”.
As always, the awards ceremony and the third time offered by the Al Faro establishment were pleasant and noisy.
