KRAKOW (POLAND)-Manuel Alfieri and Tiziano Andreatta didn’t make it to the podium in the Future tournament of the Beach Pro Tour which ended today in Krakow, Poland. In fact, in the tie-break of the final for third and fourth place, the Belgian beachers Vandecaveye/Vandecaveye prevailed 2-1 (21-19, 19-21, 15-11). Previously the Italian pair had surrendered in the semifinal 2-0 (21-15, 21-18) to the Germans Sowa/Just.

In the decisive match for third place, the Belgians got off to a flying start, taking a 7-0 lead at the start of the first set. The Italians, however, found the countermeasures and equalized at 9-9. In the second part of the set Vandecaveye/Vandecaveye move forward again and in the final they find the right opportunity to win the set 21-19.
The second set was balanced and exciting. In the central phase Alfieri and Andreatta regained their control and imposed their game (16-12). In the final, good general management allowed the Italian duo to deservedly win the set (21-19).
The start of the tie-break was all about balance. As the action progressed, however, the Belgians increased their advantage (13-9) and then won the match (15-11).
