Second day of competitions in Croatia for the teams led by Mazzantini and Saccà
ItalSeven: the results of the men’s and women’s national teams in Makarska Ph Sebastiano Pessina
The second day of the first stage of the 2024 Rugby Europe Sevens Championship Series took place on Saturday 8 June. Both the men’s and women’s national teams were involved in Makarska, Croatia.
The Azzurre led by Diego Saccà played three matches in the morning program against Poland, Great Britain and Portugal, losing in all three matches. In the afternoon, however, Italy beat Ukraine 36-5.
On Sunday 9 June the women’s national sevens team will play the final for 9th place, facing Turkey, in the last match of the Croatian stage, for the finals of 5th and 12th place. The match will be available on Rugby Europe TV (rugbyeurope.eu).
The men’s Italseven made their debut against Ukraine by winning 40-0. Coach Mazzantini’s boys also won against Portugal and lost clearly against France. In the quarter-final against Germany the Azzurri suffered a defeat with a result of 31-5. On Sunday 9 June the men’s team will play the semi-final with Great Britain for the finals for 5th to 12th place.
