Italy has already won thirteen medals at the European Championships 2024 athletics: 7 gold, 5 silver, 1 bronze after only two and a half days of competitionwhen we are not yet at the halfway point of the continental event currently taking place at the Olympic Stadium in Rome (the conclusion is scheduled for Wednesday 12 June).
In the capital several spearheads have already won of our national team such as Marcell Jacobs (100 metres), Leonardo Fabbri (shot put), Lorenzo Simonelli (110 hurdles), Yeman Crippa (half marathon), Nadia Battocletti (5000 metres), Antonella Palmisano (20 km walk) as well as team seal in the middle. Getting on the second step of the podium were Mattia Furlani (long jump), Chituru Ali (100 metres), Valentina Trapletti (20 km walk), Pietro Riva (half marathon) and the 4×400 mixed, while the bronze went to finished around the neck of Francesco Fortunato (20 km of march).
Italy has already surpassed the absolute record of medals won in a continental event. The previous record, but at the end of the competition, was 12 laurels (5 gold, 2 silver, 5 bronze) dating back to the Split edition in 1990, when the Bel Paese finished in fourth place in the medal table won by East Germany with 12 gold. This time it seems like it Italy is the favorite to win the medal table of the continental event in front of your audience.
