The English forced to make a sacrifice by the end of the month for financial fair play: negotiations for the exchange with McKennie are progressing

Juventus has two more allies in the race for Douglas Luiz: the Premier League and the time factor. Aston Villa will have to sell at least one player by the end of the month (June 30th) to fall within the limits of financial fair play and in Birmingham they have entered into the idea of sacrificing the Brazilian midfielder who has ended up in the Lady’s sights. The farewell of the green and gold international, signed in 2019 by Manchester City for 17 million, would alone allow the accounts to be settled. An important assist for director Cristiano Giuntoli, which adds to the one received in recent days by the person concerned. Douglas Luiz, after having brought Unai Emery’s team back to the Champions League, is intrigued by a new experience and fascinated by Juventus. For all these reasons, contacts between the Bianconeri and Aston Villa continue. Giuntoli and Monchi, sporting director of Aston Villa ex Roma, met last week in Turin and could soon see each other again. Everything (or almost everything) will depend on the evolution of the negotiation. To give Douglas Luiz to Thiago Motta, Juventus must sell McKennie as best as possible. Translated: the 40 million investment plus bonus for the Brazilian should be counterbalanced by a transfer of the American wildcard to the Premier League for at least 25 million. Aston Villa, right now, would like to spend less on McKennie given that the Juventus midfielder has a contract that expires in 2025. The distance, compared to the initial reasoning, has decreased slightly, but it remains: the mediations are working to bring the parts and arrive at the white smoke by June 30th. Aston Villa is also evaluating alternative solutions, such as the sale of Cash to Milan or some other team. Should no new avenues be opened, the Douglas Luiz-McKennie exchange would remain the main and most viable path. At that point it would be easier for Juve to reach a good compromise.

If everything goes well, Douglas Luiz could become the first gift for Thiago Motta, which will be made official next week. But not the only one in the middle of the pitch: the Italian-Brazilian coach hopes to renew Adrien Rabiot, his teammate at PSG, and is confident of reaching Teun Koopmeiners (Atalanta), who remains the priority objective.
