On the last day of competition at the national category finals, coach Moscioni’s boys lost to Sant’Anna Tomcar (Piedmont 1) in the 9th/12th semi-final in the morning tie break. In the afternoon against VT BI Holiday (Veneto 2) a round 3-0 certifies an incredible placement to crown a tournament played great by the young Block Devils. The Juventus coach: “It’s difficult to ask more from the boys. We close the event with five victories and three defeats, after having played our volleyball against all the opponents we have met and I think that each of us, personally and together as a group, will carry the emotion of the victory with True Volley and of the passage to the first sixteen of Italy”
The journey of the under 15 team of Sir Safety Perugia led by coach Andrea Moscioni, assisted by assistant Luca Palazzetti, to the national category finals concluded this morning in Schio ended with an amazing eleventh place overall.
The young Block Devils of the Juventus youth sector, branded ITS Umbria Academy, main sponsor of the entire sector, become protagonists of an incredible tournament and achieve a highly prestigious placing to crown a season of important growth for a regional champion group of the category fruit of the union of the two teams from Santa Maria and Perugia, coached respectively by Brizzi and Moscioni, and with the loans of Gallinella and Buompadre from Nuova Pallavolo Spoleto.
A national final in which the Bianconeri were able to express an important level of play in every match, orderly in the various phases, technically and tactically of quality, knowing how to make up for a few centimeters less and the fatigue of five days without breathing room from a physical point of view and mental with volleyball ability, team spirit and great determination.
A national final in which the Bianconeri were able to compete head-on against all the opponents they encountered in the various phases of the tournament, from their exploits in the preliminary round, managing to oust a leading youth sector in Italy such as that of Vero Volley Monza, through to the second phase and finishing with the last two matches played yesterday to decide the final placement.
Yesterday morning in the 9th/12th semi-final against Sant’Anna Tomcar (Piedmont 1) Canalicchio and his teammates play yet another high-level match, losing the first set 28-30 after a thousand emotions and feeling the pinch in the second set (18-25 ). Then yet another reaction from this tournament for a team with very high moral values and very united. The third and fourth sets see Perugia more effective in serving and attack and the tie break is reached (25-22, 25-21). In the fifth and decisive set the start is excellent (3-0), then the energy light comes on for the Block Devils, the opponents raise their voice and prevail 10-15. Bertoia, recovered at the last minute, is his best scorer with 17 winning balls. Gallinella (14 points), Sirci (13 points) and Vertecchi (11 points) the others in double figures.
Yesterday afternoon, with the last remaining energy, the 11th/12th place final against VT BI Holiday (Veneto 2). And the last great test of Captain Cassieri and his companions. Three sets of beautiful volleyball in a match fought against a team like the Venetian one, which has always been at the forefront of the Italian youth movement, a round victory for the Block Devils (partials of 25-22, 25-19, 25-22) and coach Moscioni with his assistant Palazzetti who give space to different elements of the squad. The two hammers Gallinella and Bertoia close the match at 13 and 11 respectively, the opposite Sirci and the central Vertecchi land 9 each.

“It was a great week and a great experience for our young athletes. Maybe in the end there is also a hint of regret for yesterday morning’s semi-final 9th/10th, getting into the top ten would have been fantastic, but honestly I think it’s difficult to ask more from the boys. We close the event with five victories and three defeats, after having played our volleyball against all the opponents we have met and I think that each of us, personally and together as a group, will carry the emotion of the victory with True Volley and of the passage to the first sixteen of Italy. This under 15 group is a beautiful, united, high-level group to focus on, which will move forward together and with which we will shortly plan our work for next year.”
