The trip to the ATP 250 in Geneva ends with many shadows and little light for Novak Djokovic. Flew to Switzerland to better prepare for Roland Garros, the no. 1 in the world lost in the semifinals to the Czech Tomas Machac: 6-4, 0-6, 6-1 the score in 2 hours and 8 minutes of play. If Nole was looking for the best sensations in view of the French Open, these did not arrive on the Swiss red clay. The Serbian – who had already barely won the first two matches in Geneva – played an AC game, in difficulty physically and on serve (just 34% points with the second serve). Nole starts well in the first set with a break lead, but from 4-1 suffers a comeback from Machac who wins five games in a row. Djokovic’s response came only in the second set won 6-0, then the collapse in the third set in which he won just one game. At the first career win against a top 10 playerMachac will play the first final on the ATP circuit: on the other side of the net there will be Flavio Cobolli or Casper Ruud.
Nole’s doubts for Paris
There remain many doubts surrounding the Djokovic’s real condition who arrives at Roland Garros without having played finals in the season and with five defeats, six also considering the United Cup. Paris will also be decisive for the race for no. 1 in the world: Djokovic will have to reach at least the semifinals to avoid overtaking Jannik Sinner who now sees the top of the ATP rankings close.
