double passage, the Monte Grappa and Bassano stage

Saturday 25 May 2024 Bassano del Grappa will host the arrival of the 20th stage of the 107th Giro d’Italia. A special audience is expected on Monte Grappa for the penultimate stage of the Giro d’Italia 2024, with around two hundred thousand people along the route. This stage represents one of the last altitude challenges of the Giro, characterized by a double climb of Monte Grappa which will push the riders to give their all. There will be many collateral events organized by the area to prepare to enter the “pink” spirit, in particular amateur or amateur cycling competitions, exhibitions, theatrical readings, concerts and gala dinners are planned.

The 181 km route will start from Alpago and cross the Prosecco Hills, including the climb of the Muro di Ca’ del Poggio (4th category). After 85 km, the runners will reach Monte Grappa, climbing from the Semonzo side up to 1700 meters above sea level, with an average gradient of 8.1%. After a descent of almost 30 km, the group will face a second climb of Monte Grappa, followed by a 32 km descent towards Bassano del Grappa. This stage follows the same lines as the 2014 hill climb, won by Nairo Quintana, and could attract a large crowd again. Monte Grappa is known not only for its climbs but also for its technical descents, as demonstrated by Vincenzo Nibali in 2010, when he pulled away from his rivals on the descent to Asolo.

For those who want to see it on TV, the live broadcast is on Rai2 from 2.00pm to 5.15pm.
