There are 7 nations that have achieved victories in the first 9 stages of the Giro d’Italia 2024, one more than what happened in 2023, taking the same period as reference. In this edition, three successes for Slovenia (all with Pogacar), one each for Ecuador, Belgium, Italy, France, Spain and Holland.
He was the only Italian cyclist to score Jonathan Milan, winner in Andora. I am 5 placings among the top three conquered by the Italians: the Friulian sprinter obtained threealso considering the second places of Fossano and Naples, the other two were achieved by Andrea Pietrobon (3rd in Lucca) and Filippo Ganna (2nd in the time trial in Perugia). A total of 19 placings among the top ten for the Azzurri.
Tadej Pogacar has so far achieved 3 stage successes and worn the pink jersey for 8 days. The Slovenian has achieved 10 seasonal victories, all in World Tour races and is the cyclist with the most seals in 2024. For Slovenia, stage victories in the history of the Giro have become 12.
The last rider before Pogacar to win 3 of the first 9 stages of the pink race was Arnaud Demare in the 2020 edition. The French sprinter scored a hat trick in the first seven stages, in Villafranca Tirrenia, Matera and Brindisi.
There are 162 runners who completed the ninth stage of the Giro d’Italia 2024, same number as the last edition. In 2023 9 of them did not leave Scandiano again the day after the rest, including the Belgian Remco Evenepoel who was leading the general classification at that moment.
