There Ferrari come back from You love me with the glass between half full and half empty. Charles Leclerc took two podiums, 2nd in the Sprint and third in the race, while Carlos Sainz he had to bite the bullet with a double 5th place which certainly didn’t make him smile. These are the results.
Then there is the race within the race, that of the radio teams. What if Leclerc he had to run the entire race in the dry without water, Sainz he often complained about the attitude of his colleagues, from Perez and Piastri, trying in every way to draw the attention of the race management, only to end up being the Spaniard, the only one penalized in the company. In short, insult within insult for Carlos.
F1 GP Miami, Leclerc thirsty: Charles’ radio team reveals the backstory
The Miami Grand Prix Of Charles Leclerc had an extra difficulty. The Ferrari driver ran the entire race without water. It was the Monegasque who revealed this very particular backstory in a team radio at the end of the race with his track engineer Xavi Marcos in which Charles also complains about the fact that he was unlucky with the Virtus Safety Car and the Safety Car that came out after his Pist Stop:

- Leclerc: “Ok, shit! We were unlucky with the VSC and SC. I think we did a good job anyway!”

F1, Sainz radio teams unleashed: with Perez at the start and then with Piastri
If Leclerc didn’t drink, in the other Ferrari, Carlos Sainz had to swallow a lot of bitterness. The Spanish driver had a particularly difficult weekend in Florida. On his way he has always found someone who has slowed him down to some extent, starting with Ricciardo in the Sprint. Which then continued in the race, a little with Leclerc in the early stages and then Plates upon restart.
Sainz furious in the radio teams. It all started at the start. Sergio Perez made a kamikaze braking move at the first corner, risking a strike like Bottas did in Hungary a few years ago. Luckily for him he didn’t take anyone, including his teammate Verstappen.
Sainz was the most penalized by the maneuverto avoid being caught by Checo he had to brake and was passed by Leclerc who had not had a good start and by Piastri. Both Ferrari drivers uttered unrepeatable “improper” remarks towards the Mexican over the radio. But it is in the duel with Piastri that Sainz gave his best. After the first wheel-to-wheel he asked for the position in all possible and imaginable ways:

- Sainz: “You have to give me the position back or you will get a penalty!”
- Sainz: “Tell the McLaren garage to be smartif they give me the position they will not be penalized”
A few laps later there will be an overtaking with contact between the two, Piastri will get the worst of it. Sainz’s maneuver is “noticed” but the Spaniard doesn’t seem to take it into account even in his communications, so much so that he worries about the fact that he has lost the chance to win, for the same reasons as Leclerc, in his case the Safety came in just one lap later his pit.
- Adami: “You will be investigated after the race”
- Sainz: “One more lap and we would have won…”
- Adami: “Super unlucky!”
And to say that in the end, to add insult to injury since he was the only one Sainz will be penalized for the overtaking maneuver who will therefore lose fourth position to Checo Perez.
