There is no shortage of goals but renewals do. Lautaro Martinez, current Serie A top scorer with 23 goals, has just become Italian Champion with Inter and his contract with the club expires in exactly two years. Among the highest paid in the Italian championship, ‘El Toro’ is destined to earn even more, or at least this is his request: from the current 6 million per season to 10, like his shirt number. “I feel great in Milan and I want to renew with Inter but let’s do it quickly“. These, in summary, are the words he spoke last night on ‘Che Tempo Che Fa’, where he was guest of honor by Fabio Fazio on the Nove. Words which, however, do not leave the fans completely at ease who are already wondering whether it will be possible to see – at these incredible figures – the Argentine again in the next seasons as captain and goalscorer of the Nerazzurri.

“I feel great in Milan and I want to renew with Inter”. And so far nothing to worry about. But then Lautaro added, pressed by Fazio on the topic of renewals: “Since I arrived in Milan I have been treated in a special way by the fans but in football you never know what can happen”. The Nerazzurri captain then immediately backtracked so as not to explode a media case live and in a few moments he once again reiterated the concept of feeling good in Milan with his family and of being grateful to the fans.

“Do you want more money or have I misunderstood???”. The fans’ perception is that behind these words from Lautaro there is a clear desire to ask for even more money for the renewal. And again: “Ok, I understand everything: next year he will go away”. The controversy doesn’t stop: “So sorry, will he go away after a season like this?” The fans insist: “The question about the renewal raised my blood pressure to 100, Lautaro’s answer raised it to 200”.
Fans also make economic calculations: “If Lautaro if he told me 10 or nothing, I would choose nothing as a club. In my opinion, net 10 is a higher level than that of Lautaro. There is one thing that is not lacking in the world: footballers.” And again: “As Inter’s captain, number 10 and top scorer I think he is the only one who deserves 10 bonuses included, we must also evaluate the changing room thermometer because Inter cannot afford to hear a knock on the door due to all the pharaonic adjustments. Inter, Lautaro creates a rift among fans over his renewal
The web is unleashed: “If he wants to expire he’s crazy because you do two seasons losing a lot of money. If he wants to leave, willpower is not enough, the club needs a pharaonic offer and he fulfills his wishes, but this with or without renewal. But with the renewal in the meantime he gets more money.” The back and forth between the Nerazzurri fans does not subside: “Being captain and number 10 doesn’t mean you’re worth 10 million. This doesn’t score from how many games? Because this is its main role, let’s not forget it.”
And again: “We must be careful not to underestimate the fact that these types of players are not obliged “to bring the offer”.
