the men’s 4×100 and 4×400 relays qualify for the Olympics; the women’s 4×400 also passes

The 4×100 relay team that amazed the world at the 2021 Tokyo Games will defend their title at the Paris Games. At dawn on Sunday in Nassau (Bahamas) Roberto Rigali, Marcell Jacobs, Lorenzo Patta and Filippo Tortu they won the pass for France with a good second place in the heat behind the world champions USA (with Lyles in the last leg) running in 38″14. The time (more than decent for the start of the season, with an excellent Jacobs clocked in 9″04 in the throw of the second half) is the fourth overall after the United States (very fast in 37″49), Japan (38.10) and Canada (38.11). On Sunday night the Azzurri will also play the final.

Good news also from the women’s 4×400 (Rebecca Borga, Ayomide Folorunso, Giancarla Trevisan and Alice Mangione) and men’s (Luca Sito, Vladimir Aceti, Edoardo Scotti and Davide Re) who take home the pass unlike the mixed 4×400 which is far from the best nations.
Not a small disappointment however for the 4×100 women who had shone at the last World Championships in Budapest. Zaynab Dosso, Dalia Kaddari, Anna Bongiorni and Alessia Pavese run in a modest 43″08 which is only worth fourth place in the heat (the first two pass) and which will force the girls to look for the pass to Paris at dawn on Monday in the rounds repechage.
