Bad news has shaken the world of winter sports in Italy in the last few hours. As reported by the FISI website, there is talk of one tragedy on Mount Paramont in La Salle, in the Aosta Valley, where the lifeless body of the multiple ski mountaineering champion was found, Denis Trento. The man was on top of an avalanche and now we will try to understand what happened.
The failure to return of the 42-year-old mountain guide from Valle d’Aosta immediately triggered the alarm. The Federation website refers, in this regard, to one solo climb from the north face of the mountain. His return was scheduled for midday, but unfortunately things went differently. The first search teams left in the early afternoon yesterday.
The men of the Valle d’Aosta Alpine Rescue who arrived by helicopter reached the area, in La Salle. The Alpine Rescue of the Financial Police of Entrèves (Courmayeur) was also present on site. Not much could be done for poor Denis, beyond noting his death on a snowdrift.
