Aurelio De Laurentiis’s work continues for the new Napoli stadium in Bagnoli, but the Municipality continues to raise the Maradona hypothesis. Here is the real plan of the Municipality of Naples.

In home Naples the last few months have been quite hot, and continue to be so, with president De Laurentiis busy on multiple fronts. In fact, the Azzurri owner is committed to the re-foundation of Napoli, with the choice of the new coach who will arrive in the next few weeks.

In addition to matters on the field, De Laurentiis is working on the stadium issue, with the Bagnoli hypothesis remaining at the top of the list, while the Municipality continues to propose Maradona. The Municipality of Naples reveals its plan regarding the future of Diego Armando Maradona.

New stadium in Bagnoli or we continue at Maradona: the Municipality announces its plan

The work continues Aurelio De Laurentiis on multiple fronts for Napoli, with the stadium theme continuing to be the most talked about and burning one. The desire of the Italian president to build the new Napoli stadium in the Bagnoli area, thus effectively abandoning Diego Armando Maradona, is now well known.

The topic was discussed during various meetings in which both De Laurentiis and the mayor of Naples were present, Gaetano Manfredi. The Municipality of Naples intends to carry out a restyling of the Maradona in view of Euro2032. At the same time, Manfredi is trying to convince De Laurentiis to focus on Maradona again and abandon the project of the new stadium in Bagnoli.

The exclusive statements of the City Councilor, Luigi Carbone, on the topic of the stadium: Bagnoli or Maradona? – LAPRESSE – Spazionapoli.it

Our collaborator, Salvatore Amorosointerviewed the City Councilor exclusively Luigi Carbonewho illustrated the plan of the Municipality of Naples to the microphones of Spazionapoli.it:

ON THE BAGNOLI AREA – “There is no preclusion with respect to De Laurentiis’ ideas. We seriously analyze every proposal from the Napoli president, but the Bagnoli proposal encounters technical difficulties. We find ourselves in a site of national interest, that is, under the lens of the Government for some years with a Decree. This Decree provides for the establishment of a Government Commissioner for the management of the area. We know very well that this is a highly polluted area, for which an environmental remediation process has been started. With an implementation device issued in 2005, reclamation is envisaged for the soils of Bagnoli, and subsequently a plan by Invitalia which includes the Sports Park and an Urban Park”.

ON THE IDEA OF A NEW STADIUM IN BAGNOLI – “If De Laurentiis wants to build the stadium in Bagnoli, he needs to have the Government Commissioner evaluate the project, go to the City Council and have everything approved by Rome, but another 30 years would be wasted. The project would be possible, but it is not desirable. It is right to maintain the vocation of the area as it is, with the Government having allocated 1 billion and 200 million euros to complete the sufficient savings for Bagnoli. I respect De Laurentiis, but in my opinion he chose the worst place to build the new stadium, also because of the problems in the area.”

ABOUT THE MARADONA STADIUM – “The Diego Armando Maradona Stadium is owned by the Municipality, with the agreement for Napoli regarding the matches. By proposing a stadium project in Bagnoli, we would also miss out on the funding for Euro2032 to renovate the sports facilities. Napoli would like to buy him, but when faced with this hypothesis we must also evaluate based on the city’s needs. First of all there is a need for an offer, and then if there are guarantees for the Neapolitans. Unfortunately, the president doesn’t believe much in the Maradona Stadium, unlike the Municipality. We don’t have any news on the potential acquisition by Napoli, but we would be fine even if they didn’t buy him. If De Laurentiis wants to talk to us we are available, but he must review his conditions.”

ON THE WORK IN VIEW OF EURO 2032 – “The first thing to resolve is the closure of the third ring. We need to make a new design sector by sector so that it is totally usable. Interventions will have to be carried out on the systems, design and bathrooms. Then there is the need to insert new infrastructures relating to cameras and shots to also deal with television rights. To do everything we need great architects, who will have to adapt the Maradona stadium to modern standards.”
