In the collective imagination the Ferrari Of Formula 1 it’s all red. However, on particular occasions we have seen Ferraris with one livery particular. This is the case of the next one Miami GPwhich will take place over the weekend from 3 to 5 May 2024 (here all times on TV), where the Cavallino single-seaters will be presented with Azzurro La Plata Azzurro Dino inserts. Both colors They date back to the origins of Ferrari and represent a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the presence of the Prancing Horse on the American market. The two shades of sky blue will come back to life in various aspects of the world of Scuderia Ferrari, including a special livery of the Formula 1 single-seater, the Formula 1 SF-24, which will be used solely for the Miami race.
L’La Plata blue, rather light, the national color of the cars of the Argentine teams, was similar to the shade that Alberto Ascari brought to races in his most successful seasons. The Italian two-time world champion in fact used to wear a blue shirt with a matching helmet, which were his good luck charms. The same color were the suits of the drivers in the 70s, such as John Surtees and Lorenzo Bandini, Ludovico Scarfiotti and Chris Amon. Niki Lauda’s suit in his first year with Ferrari was also of that shade, as were the overalls of the Maranello workers. The other color that Ferrari wanted to rediscover on the occasion of the Miami GP isDino bluea deeper blue that attracted the attention of several Scuderia drivers and in particular Arturo Merzario and Clay Regazzoni, the last to wear it in 1974. Since then, blue has given way to red on the drivers’ suits, and, sometimes, to white.

Furthermore, the blue also represents the historic bond between Ferrari and American racing world. Here the Rosso Corsa, a shade that has characterized Italian racing cars since the 1920s, gave way to the white-blue of the United States in the last two races of the 1964 F1 season, a combination also used for other cars of the North American Racing Team (NART) founded by the importer Luigi Chinetti. In some NART cars the blue of the wheels was combined with the red of the livery, giving rise to an unusual color combination.
