Minister Raffaele Fitto met with mayoral candidates Carmine Alfano and Mario D’Apuzzo to discuss the emergencies of Torre Annunziata and Castellammare di Stabia. The meeting took place at Marina di Stabia in the presence of the Honorable Annarita Patriarca, involved in the front line for the relaunch of the two Municipalities.

It was a productive evening, during which the minister illustrated to the candidates the unmissable opportunities that must be exploited by the next municipal administrations. In addition to the issues for “European Affairs”, Raffaele Fitto is aware of the emergencies of the South, therefore of Campania and the metropolitan area of Naples, but he is also convinced of the immense opportunities linked on the one hand to the new Cohesion Policies and on the other to the funds of the Resistance and Resilience Plan (Pnrr). The minister renewed the government’s full support for the two candidates for mayor, as minister Antonio Tajani has already done publicly on two occasions.

As for the Cohesion Policies, the signature with the Campania Region is imminent, there will be no cuts for the Pnrr funds.

As already reiterated on the occasion of public meetings, Raffaele Fitto asked future administrations for courage, speed and pragmatism: «We need to put complaints aside, and the South must play on the attack. We must ask ourselves the problem of spending the resources that exist and how we spend them, with a strategic vision and not in many small investments, avoiding the atomization of spending”. Torre Annunziata and Castellammare di Stabia can and must play a decisive role in the development of the metropolitan coastline, but for this to happen «we need to have a prospective vision and understand that the questions to which we are trying to give answers concern the next 10-15 years . We must have the ability to project ourselves forward to give a role to our cities and our country and carve out a true leading role for the territory. In this the ‘Verso Sud’ white paper goes in the right direction, with an optimistic approach far from complaints.”

Carmine Alfano, as he had already asked Minister Tajani, asked for attention from the government. «We will do our part with courage and determination, pursuing the programmatic lines that we have traced for the rebirth of our territory, but it is necessary to have a preferential lane because this is a complicated land, in which social, economic and urban emergencies represent a time bomb ready to explode. For years, this land has been abandoned to itself, all relaunch strategies have failed, often due to the responsibilities of the Democratic Party guilty of having failed every programming plan despite the continuity of government. The time for change has come, we will be on the front line and we hope to have all the forces of the central government alongside us.”
