He goes back to raising his arms to the sky Giovanni Bortoluzzi and he does it on the most important day for the General Store Essegibi F.lli Curia of the President Diego Beghini: the 21-year-old boy from San Daniele del Friuli exploits the work of his teammates in the best possible way, in the home race for the Scaliger association, which took place on the streets of Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella, placing a powerful progression in the last 250 meters with which he annihilates every ambition of his rivals.

THE NEWS – 166 athletes started on a typically spring day with some black clouds threatening the group and a strong wind affecting their progress. In the central phase of the race, the most anticipated of the day emerge, making up a group of 10 units that seem to be able to get the better of the rest of the group. The maximum advantage of 1’30”, however, is only illusory: during the penultimate lap, in fact, the cards are shuffled on the Conca d’Oro climb.

In the decisive brawl, a group of around twenty units is formed which goes for broke in the last kilometres: first Simone Raccani (Zalf) and then Luca Cavallo (Team Technipes) try to place the solitary lunge but the last thrust is canceled out 400 meters from the finish line.

Surprising everyone on the counterattack is Luca Bortoluzzi who doesn’t think twice about launching his long sprint, clearly distancing himself from all his opponents and thus appearing under the finish line banner with arms raised to the delight of patron Diego Beghini and the entire yellow-green entourage. Nicolò Arrighetti’s sprint, however, was more woody and forced to settle for the silver medal, bronze for Cesare Chesini who found his support, form and brilliance on the streets of his Valpolicella.

“I am very happy to have managed to win and to have done it today in such a special race” he celebrated after the finish line Luca Bortoluzzi. “This victory has many meanings but first of all it allows me to thank this team, the managers, the sporting directors and my teammates who put their trust in me and became a second family for me”.
