Fiorentina’s season is once again at a crossroads. Exactly as happened last season, when they managed to qualify for the Conference League only thanks to the renunciation of Juventus who made an agreement with UEFA to no longer have legal pending on their head, there is the risk of being left with the match in hand.
Last year they reached two finals, then lost, in the Italian Cup and in the Conference League. Inter and West Ham extinguished the Viola’s dreams of bringing a trophy back to Florence that has been missing since 1996. In the championship, however, Fiorentina finished in eighth place which could not satisfy the management and the club.
This year the ranking sees Fiorentina more or less sailing in those positions, but there remains the great hope of bringing home some trophies anyway. The possibility of doing so with the Italian Cup vanished at the moment and the 4-1 defeat suffered by Atalanta last Wednesday eliminated the Viola in the semi-final. In the Conference League, however, the dream continues.
We’ll see if Vincenzo Italiano’s team will have more luck than last season and will manage to bring home the third European competitionbut the path in the Conference also becomes fundamental to understand if and which competition Fiorentina will play next year.
