Cycling in mourning, Cipriano has passed away

With Cipriano Marangon (in the photo, center, with white hair, among her boys), died Sunday 28 April at the age of 92He goes away another piece of the historical memory of Porto Viro; when Contarina and Donada still lived on their proud borders.

But the “his” glorious Ciclistica Polesana had the great merit of uniting both realities because he knew about genuine, authentic, truthful things. Like the character of Cipriano Marangon, a farmer in everyday life; President (and one of the founding members of the club) since 1973 and in the saddle for twenty years, with two “pearls” that marked his sporting journey marked by the bronze medal of merit. That is, the birth in 1987 of the “Velodromo dei Pini” (set among the pine forest of the Salesian youth center “S.Giusto” and owned by Ciclistica Polesana) with the presence, during the inauguration ceremony, of two champions such as Francesco Moser and Moreno Argentin; with the same facility that, in 1993, even hosted the Italian Youth and Overall Track Championships. Many stars have cycled there; Martinello, Gentili, Collinelli, Baffi…

But also many riders who trained wearing the iconic white/red/green “Polesana” uniform and were then able to leave a mark in the world of cycling; Luca Pozzato, Nicola Gazzetta and Fabiano Ferrari, who then landed among the professionals. Above all, however, he remains, Mirco Crepaldi; who lived his most exciting seasons as a “pro” wearing the Team Polti shirt and then disappeared too soon…Valentino (one of the children together with Emanuela, Luigina and Paolo) perhaps outlines the image that more than others remains in the memory of those who knew Cipriano Marangon: “With his friends he organized many dinners, parties and trips to the snow; along his path he also faced many difficulties, including economic ones, but they were always overcome and became a further reason for being together. Because for years Ciclistica Polesana was not only a sports association, but also a group of people who lived among themselves”. Now the “Polesana Cycling” no longer exists and many have left; but the proud memory of indelible seasons remains. And Cipriano Marangon will forever be its President!
