In a few days the magic of world tennis will arrive in Rome for the 81st edition of the Italian Internationals. But for the first time, those who were unable to purchase tickets for the Foro Italico will also be able to watch some matches in the heart of the capital: in Piazza del Popolo. The red clay court, the result of the collaboration between Federtennis and the Municipality, is practically finished.

In fact, from 30 April to 4 May, male and female athletes will compete for the pre-qualifications in Piazza del Popolo in the shadow of the obelisk. All matches will be free to access. The councilor for tourism, sport, fashion and major events Alessandro Onorato went to the site today 27 April to complete the construction work on the pitch and presented the initiative.

“A dream has become reality, it wasn’t easy but it’s a spectacle – announces Onorato -. Tourists and citizens will be able to watch the pre-qualification matches for free and we are preparing a crazy performance by either Sinner or Berrettini, in a square that is not never been so at the center of the world. And it will remain like this until May 19th. Until that day, girls and boys will be able to come here with the federation’s clubs and experience tennis.
