L’AQUILA – Two events not to be missed before the grand finale, scheduled for Sunday 28 April next at the Fattori Stadium and
along Viale Gran Sasso, of the week of events that the Polisportiva L’Aquila Rugby, with the patronage of
Municipality of L’Aquila and the University of L’Aquila, organized to celebrate the to celebrate the
Scudetto in ’94, the last in the history of our club.
After the first part of the week dedicated to the memory and emotions of a historic success for ours
city, the next events have been designed to reflect on the present and on how to support and inspire,
to the companies, managers and technicians of the local rugby clubs, sporting projects that can bring back to the
national summits our beloved rugby, a sport deeply rooted in our territory, and which through the
multiple successes have brought prestige to the city of L’Aquila and the entire region.
It starts this afternoon at 4.00 pm at the Park Auditorium, with the event “THE RUGBY WE WANT”, a
appointment during which there will be a technical excursus on the evolution of the sport of rugby since the 90s
to today’s rugby, with a vision of what our sport will be in the coming years.
The debate will be led by the Rai journalist, as well as rugby enthusiast and expert, PAOLO PACITTI, and we’ll see
on stage the former players and Italian Champions of L’Aquila Rugby ROB LOUW, DANIE GERBER AND WIM VISSER,
returned to our city precisely to also be present at the week of events organized in our city
city.
He will also intervene MASSIMO MASCIOLETTI, emblem of L’Aquila rugby, Italian Champion 1980 and 1981, and
coach and “Deus ex machina” of the historic 1994 championship, as well as assistant coach and then Coach of the
Italian national rugby team from 1994 to 1999.
Another welcome guest will be VINCENZO TROIANI, former player and former coach of L’Aquila Rugby, who, in addition to
having been assistant coach of the Italian Zebre franchise in the period 2012-2014, has a long history
career as coach of the youth sectors of L’Aquila Rugby (with which he also won a national title
U20) and with the U18 and U20 national youth teams.
For two years he has been the Coach of Isveb Avezzano Rugby, which will play in its own walls next Sunday
decisive match to allow the Marsican team to enter the Championship next year
Serie A1 national team, a result never achieved in the history of the Avezzano club.
Tomorrow afternoon at 4.00 pm, again at the Park Auditorium, we will talk about Communication, a sector
fundamental for every sports company, a theme that has nowadays become central and fundamental for any
entrepreneurial and sporting activity.
Even if in recent years the ways of “communicating” are completely different, their forms are
predominantly digital, the inspiration will start from what happened in the 1993-1994 season, during
which the daily “story”, passionate journalists very attached to the sport of rugby of that period,
allowed us to build a very positive and increasingly euphoric climate around the team and in the city,
thus also becoming a tool for achieving important sporting goals. In the final stage of that
championship at the Fattori Stadium attracted an average of 4 thousand people, reaching almost 7 thousand people
for the 3rd semi-final against Benetton and to the more than 4 thousand present at the Final in Padua.
The BRANDING AND COMMUNICATION STRATEGY event will be moderated by the journalist ANGELO DE
NICOLAand will see the participation of many well-known journalists, commentators and writers from the sport of rugby
national, which ones ANTONIO RAIMONDI, MARCO PASTONESI, FRANCESCO VOLPE, CHRISTIAN MARCHETTI, AURELIO CAPALDI, like many “L’Aquila” journalists who in those years told the story that L’Aquila rugby was writing, which ones, FABRIZIO CAPORALE, WALTER CAPEZZALI, ENRICO GIANCARLI (alsoin the name of his father FRANCO), ANTONIO DI MUZIO AND PAOLO MASTRI.
