BARI – The sporting director of Bari, Ciro Polito, was apparently aggressively attacked by some red and white fans, in a service station near Occhiobello (RO), on his return from the away match at Cittadella (the match ended with a sad 1-1 ). According to what was reported by the website tuttomercatoweb.com, kicks and punches were thrown and the complaint was filed. Polito was in the car with his wife, the argument started and the violence didn’t wait long. He is investigating Digos.
Definitely yet another sign of nervousness in a difficult moment: Bari has one last chance to avoid automatic relegation. On Friday 10th at 8.30pm, at the same time as the other teams at the bottom of the Serie B table, the match against Brescia is scheduled, which in case of victory would give access to the play-outs, in an attempt to save a disastrous season at the last minute .
Also yesterday, there were heated tones between fans, managers and players at Bergamo airport, upon the team’s return, with a spat between a historic former Ultras boss and a member of the management staff.

«SSC Bari expresses its closeness and solidarity to DS Ciro Polito, victim yesterday evening of a real attack which took place, by unknown persons, after the Cittadella-Bari match». This is what we read in a note released by the company.
«The red and white manager, while he was parked at a motorway service station on the way back from the Venetian city, was reached and verbally and physically attacked by a group of unknown persons who immediately afterwards fled.
The competent authorities that intervened immediately started the procedures to identify the responsible parties.
The red and white club strongly condemns what happened at the hands of “cowards” who have nothing to do with Bari fans and sport.”
While waiting for justice to take its course, when reason gives way to violence we have already lost everyone.
