A good season which however left a bad taste in the mouth. This is the snapshot of the Fenix Energia championship, which missed out on the play-offs on the last day by just one point, after obtaining 53 points in the 22 matches played. The roadmap of 18 victories and 4 defeats did not help to conquer one of the first two positions, conquered by Rainbow Forlimpopoli, first with 55 points, and by GUT Chemical Bellaria, second with 54.

“Numbers in hand, we certainly cannot say that it was a negative championship – states coach Angelo Manca – on the contrary the team almost always asserted itself. Unfortunately, however, the 53 points were not enough and we are left with a bit of bitterness considering that in other groups with this score we would have finished in first place. We knew that it would be a very tough championship and that no missteps would be allowed: unfortunately we were the ones who made them, no longer managing to get back into the running for the top two places in the last few days, because our opponents no longer made any mistakes.” .

What was the key episode of the season?
“The defeat at Russi was decisive. We played a decidedly subpar match, deservedly won by our opponents, and those points cost us dearly. However, the balance is more than positive, because we played good volleyball and were in the lead for a long time, even if there is one aspect that I am very sorry about.”

Which?

“Unfortunately, bad luck has always affected us and I am referring above all to the serious injuries of Sara Goni and Lucia Solaroli, who I hope will return as soon as possible in perfect shape. Furthermore, since the beginning of the season we have never trained fully with all 14 players in the squad, because at least one has always been absent. This is certainly a situation that pays off over the course of a season. However, I want to congratulate the girls for the championship played and I’m sorry that they were unlucky not managing to play in the play offs.”
